Junior Jerek Turlij has been nominated for GoErie’s baseball pre-season player of the year. Jerek missed his sophomore season due to an injury, but he has come back with a vengeance. After a very successful travel baseball season over the summer, Jerek was noticed by colleges and has committed to Penn State after graduation. He dominated the mound and struck out 15 out of the 18 batters he faced when North East played Union City. The team is currently undefeated with a 5-0 record and ranked 2nd in the state.
