The girls basketball game vs. Seneca that was cancelled due to weather has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 6th. The swim meet at Fairview scheduled for today, January 31st has also been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 6th. The home girls basketball game vs. St. Mary’s Lancaster will not be rescheduled.

The arctic cold snap has halted classes and caused the cancellation of numerous games, meets, and matches across Erie county. Here is a listing of cancellations:

Sophomore Garrett Hein was chosen as the boys basketball “Player of the Week” by fans in the Goerie online voting. Garrett has been nominated on more than one occasion this season with his standout play, but this is his first time selected for the honor. Senior girls basketball player Marissa Keith is up for the Goerie.com “Athlete of the Week” again after her performance on the court this past weekend. The 7th, 8th and 9th grade basketball games scheduled for today, January 25th have been cancelled. They will be played at home on Monday, January 28th. Additionally, the girls varsity basketball game vs. Conneaut is cancelled for tonight and will be played tomorrow, January 26th. JV start time is 5:00 pm with the varsity to follow at 6:30 pm.

The home wrestling match vs. General McLane, scheduled for tonight, January 23rd, has been cancelled and has been rescheduled for Monday, January 28th. This is also senior night for the wrestlers who will be honored at 6:45 pm with a match start time of 7:00 pm.

Three Picker athletes highlight the Goerie.com “Athlete of the Week” list for their recent competition accolades. Sophomore basketball standout Garrett Hein, netted 22 points in a 62-58 win versus Conneaut on January 15th. Senior point guard Marissa Keith contributed a game high 28 points in a 62-32 rout over Titusville on January 17th. Finally, Senior swimmer Justin Warr, powered his way to four first place finishes in a lopsided win over Union City on January 14th. Voting for the Athlete of the Week ends each Tuesday at 11:59 pm.
